How to print a PDF from an Android phone

Updated October 30, 2026

A PDF keeps its layout on every device, which makes it the most reliable file type to print. Here is how to print one from an Android phone.

Print a PDF with PrintHop

  1. Open PrintHop and tap PDF file.
  2. Choose the PDF from your phone, or from Downloads, Drive or another location the file picker shows.
  3. Check the preview, then tap Print.
  4. On the Android print screen choose your printer, the number of copies, colour and the pages to print, then tap the print button.

Print a PDF someone sent you

In email, chat or the Files app, open the PDF’s share menu and choose PrintHop. The file opens straight in the preview.

Print only some pages, or several pages per sheet

The page range and the number of copies are on Android’s print screen, under the options arrow. Printing two pages on one sheet depends on your printer’s own options when it offers them.

Save instead of print

Choose Save as PDF in the printer menu to keep a copy without using paper.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my PDF printing at the wrong size?

Check the paper size on the print screen. A4 and Letter are different, and the wrong choice shrinks or crops the page.

Can I print a password-protected PDF?

Open it in a PDF reader that can unlock it first, save an unlocked copy if you are allowed to, then print that copy.

Do I need internet to print a PDF?

No. Printing a local PDF to a Wi-Fi printer on your own network works without internet access.
